World Food Safety Day

World Food Safety Day, observed annually on June 7, underscores the critical role of safe food in ensuring human health and well-being. It raises awareness about the importance of food safety and encourages actions to prevent, detect, and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, and sustainable development.

The day aligns closely with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 2 (Zero Hunger): Ensuring food safety enhances food security and prevents hunger.
  • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Safe food prevents foodborne illnesses and promotes overall health.
