International LEADERSHIP ACADEMY (ILA)

THE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY IS THE CENTRAL CENTRE FOR TRAINING MEMBERS OF THE LAZARUS UNION.
(To standardise the internal instruction for members of the “LAZARUS UNION Leadership Academy“ was established effect 1. December 2015 by the Founder of the Lazarus Union (ret.) Senator Prof.h.c. Wolfgang Steinhardt (+).)

The Leadership Academy is currently undergoing a complete overhaul and will start its training programme in the winter semester 2024.

Overview

The International Leadership Academy of the Lazarus Union is a dedicated educational arm of our international NGO, committed to empowering our staff, volunteers, and partners with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively drive our mission. The ILA is designed to provide comprehensive training programs that enhance professional development, foster a deep understanding of our organizational values, and align our efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Training Content

1. Introduction to the ILA and Its Mission:
  • History and Mission: Understanding the origins, evolution, and core mission of the Lazarus Union.
  • Organizational Structure: Overview of the Lazarus Union structure, key departments, and roles.
  • Core Values and Ethics: Training on the fundamental principles and ethical standards that guide our work.
2. United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
  • Understanding the SDGs: Comprehensive training on the 17 SDGs, their targets, and indicators.
  • SDG Integration: Strategies for integrating the SDGs into Lazarus Union’s projects and initiatives.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Methods for tracking progress towards the SDGs and reporting outcomes.
3. Program and Project Management:
  • Project Design and Planning: Techniques for designing effective programs that address key issues and align with the SDGs.
  • Implementation and Management: Best practices for executing projects efficiently and managing resources.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Tools and methodologies for assessing the impact of projects and ensuring continuous improvement.
4. Leadership and Team Development:
  • Leadership Skills: Training on leadership styles, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Team Building: Strategies for fostering teamwork, collaboration, and a positive work environment.
  • Communication: Enhancing interpersonal communication skills and cultural competence.
5. Community Engagement and Advocacy:
  • Community Outreach: Techniques for engaging with communities and understanding their needs.
  • Advocacy Training: Methods for effective advocacy and lobbying for policy change.
  • Partnership Development: Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
6. Technical and Sector-Specific Training:
  • Sector Knowledge: In-depth training on the specific sectors the Lazarus Union operates in, such as health, education, environment, or economic development.
  • Technical Skills: Practical training in relevant technical skills required for specific roles within the Lazarus Union.

Internal Organization

1. Training Delivery:
  • E-Learning Platform: A robust online platform offering courses, webinars, and virtual workshops accessible globally.
  • On-site Workshops: In-person training sessions conducted at various regional offices and field locations.
  • Blended Learning: Combining online and offline learning methods for a flexible and comprehensive training experience.
2. Curriculum Development:
  • Needs Assessment: Regular assessments to identify training needs and gaps within the organization.
  • Expert Collaboration: Developing content in collaboration with subject matter experts and external partners.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regular updates and enhancements to training materials based on feedback and emerging trends.
3. Support and Resources:
  • Mentorship Programs: Pairing new employees with experienced mentors for guidance and support.
  • Resource Library: Access to a wide range of resources, including research papers, case studies, and best practice guides.
  • Technical Assistance: Providing ongoing support and technical assistance to ensure the effective application of training.

Alignment with the United Nations SDGs
