The LU ITALY inaugurates its first ambulance in Livorno

LIVORNO. On the 17 November, on the occasion of the World Day of the Poor, an inauguration was held at the Church of Our Lady (Chiesa della Madonna) in Livorno to bless the new ambulance of the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro, officiated by Mons. Salvatore Bevinetto, Commander of the Corps’ Tuscany District.

Representing the Corps’ National Command were the Secretary General Alexander Virgili and the member of the National Executive Committee Salvatore Esposito, as well as civil authorities such as the Prefect of Livorno.

The new ambulance will be used for assistance activities on the occasion of the next Jubilee, for prevention services in the area, and for the “last wish” project for the transport of non-ambulatory patients who wish to visit a beloved place linked to their life memories.

On this occasion, the Secretary General of the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro Alexander Virgili presented Mons. Salvatore Bevinetto with the Lazarus Union’s Knighthood of Honour. “The Group of Livorno of the Corps well represents the values of our organisation in the many charitable activities carried out within this community”, commented Virgili, “and we are sure that this important event will be a springboard for even more relevant activities”.
